Colleagues,
Can you tell me how bad/good your DRs are about blackening spark plugs?
I know how to set correct mixture, that's not the reason i am asking.

Reason: my DR used to take zero to none oil. With mixture lean-to-normal spark plugs were black. Really black. Not normal for any of my other bikes or bikes I worked on.

Now it did drink oil in Norway trip. Mixture now is normal-to-rich. Plugs still black (I consider it normal).

What is your experience? Anybody has photos of his plugs - that would be GREAT help.

Thank you, this is what they should be - sign of your engine running perfectly...

I am using same grade plugs, just Iridium version...

Problem I found - I had some damage in exhaust...bike was running quite rich until last week. And I do not know - is it problem with oil = I need rebore, new piston etc. etc. or it went black because of ride back from Norway and bike running to rich because of holes in exhaust and wet airfilter :(

Heya, take your airfilter out and chek for dirt in the housing...
If there's dirt in there you now what's going wrong

And the color say's nothing unless the engine was cut of running on high revs, if you just stop and kill the engine the looks are disturpt..

Here some pics of the plugs i took out 2 days ago, scraped some dirt of them already..
