Graham Jarvis took his revenge!
sabato, 12 febbraio 2011
Second place, with a big distance for Lampkin, the only other rider on the top of the Hell’s Peak.
And here it comes the most exciting moment of an already unbelievable race: for the second time two English men are fighting in front of the Hell’s Peak. The crowd waiting, hearts biting. The lights on the Hell’s Peak suddenly become the real magic of extreme enduro! Hell’s Gate is all that and even more!
Hell’s Gate is the strength of great riders that fall, get back up and keep fighting. It is the metaphor of passion, or maybe, the passion itself! The bike for the brave: the extreme enduro became sublime today on the Ciocco hills.
Such a hard race that Master Fasola was forced to shorten the final phase: five laps instead of six, otherwise even the arrival of only one rider would have been difficult.
We saw the effort of almost unbreakable men, like the American Cody Webb, who seemed out in the first phase of the morning due to 6 minutes of penalty, but still admitted at the 28th place, and in the end still in race at the 4th lap in the afternoon. Or the tough Alessandro “Bottu” Botturi, 4th in the eliminatory phase but out in the afternoon due to a fall (too bad!).
Step by step all the bigs gave up: too much delay from the first and so out Walker, Webb, Galindo...
The greatest story to tell is still the one of the two trial riders who came from England and who met face to face during the last lap: Graham Jarvis and Dougie Lampkin. Last year they arrived together at the start of the devil’s climb, maybe Jarvis had a little advantage. Then Lampkin was the best to get the attention and the help of the public.
This time Peter Graham Jarvis didn’t want to risk: he put his back into it and he gained, lap after lap, an overwhelming advantage. Nothing to do for Lampkin, no move up for the twelve times trial world champion! Ten, twenty and more the minutes of advantage for the 35-yars-old Jarvis, new rider of the Husaberg team, who this time flew to the top of the highest peak of the Hell’s Gate.
A great satisfaction for Master Fasola: there never was so much public to Hell’s Gate, so many emotions and so much heart and passion! The Hell’s Gate celebrates the extreme enduro with an event where all the riders who had the strength to take part to it can be said to be the real brave! On the top of all of them, the solitary knight Graham Peter Jarvis!
